    personality disorders

    phase-of-life transitions

    relationship problems

    sex and sexual orientation issues

    trauma

CCC does not offer psychotherapy for children. If someone inquires about such services, we will recommend other agencies in the Chicago area that can help.

You can call CCC at (312) 252-9500 x130 to request an appointment. If you call, you will be transferred to an Intake staff member. The Intake staff member will follow up with all voicemail requests within one business day.

After a brief phone interview with you, the Intake staff member will determine if our services are appropriate for you. They will then match you with the first available therapist who can meet your needs.

If our services are not appropriate, the Intake staff member will refer you to other area agencies that can provide assistance.

Your first meeting will be a phone interview with an Intake staff member, who will assign you to a staff therapist. You may have to be on a waiting list if no appointments are available. The Intake staff member can give you an estimate of the current wait time.

Therapy sessions vary from 55 to 60 minutes.

Most clients see their therapists once a week though twice weekly sessions are also available as needed.

CCC believes that the duration of therapy should depend on the needs of the client. Your therapist and you will work together to determine the course of your treatment.

Your therapist can assist you in finding a psychiatrist in the area.

After you inquire about services at Cathedral Counseling Center, you will have a phone interview with an Intake staff member. They will ask preliminary questions about your financial resources and give you an estimated fee. After you provide proof of income, Operations staff will have a more detailed discussion with you about your finances and work with you to establish your sliding scale fee. You will have a sliding scale fee assigned even if you plan to use insurance, since you will be responsible for sessions missed without 24 hours notice.

Payment is due at the time of each appointment.

CCC does work with several insurance providers. If you have insurance, the receptionist will make a copy of your insurance card when you arrive for your first appointment. Operations staff will submit bills to your insurance company. When CCC receives a statement of benefits from the insurance company, your therapist will discuss with you what effect the coverage may have on your fee.

More about Fees & Insurance

CCCC does accept Medicare, the federal health insurance program for older adults and people with certain disabilities, including psychiatric disabilities. CCC does not work with Medicaid, the federal health insurance program for people with limited income and financial resources.

If you need to miss an appointment, you must contact your therapist, not the receptionist, by phone or email 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. If you do not notify your therapist within 24 hours, you will be charged your standard fee.

The agency provides professional psychotherapy that reflects the best practices in evidence-based mental health care.

CCC was founded in 1974 by professionals and leaders at Chicago's St. James Episcopal Cathedral who believed the decision to seek mental health care should not be primarily a financial matter.
