Psychiatric Services

Cathedral Counseling Center has consulting psychiatrists available to our therapy clients for diagnostic evaluations, medication evaluation and ongoing medication management. This service is arranged through referral from client's therapist.

Vocational Assessment and Counseling

The Center has a vocational consultant available to our therapy clients for assessment and ongoing counseling regarding work-related problems, including conflicts with supervisors or colleagues, performance concerns, and career exploration. This service is arranged through referral from client's therapist.

Spiritual Direction

Although Cathedral Counseling Center has ties to the Episcopal Church in Chicago, its services are not designed especially for Episcopalians or other Christians. Rather, The Center therapists tailor psychotherapy to the specific needs of each individual. For those concerned about spirituality, The Center therapists are committed to understanding spirituality as a relevant facet of the client’s total well-being and mental health. Cathedral Counseling Center has a Spiritual Director on staff for those seeking exclusively Spiritual Direction.

Stress Management Workshop

Anxiety Management Group ANXIETY MANAGEMENT GROUP

The Anxiety Management Group is a six week psycho-educational therapy group for people experiencing the symptoms and limiting effects of anxiety disorders such as panic attacks, agoraphobia, social phobia, obsessive compulsive anxiety disorder, and/or generalized anxiety disorder.  Both psycho-educational and experiential in nature, the group is designed to help each group member identify specific factors which contribute to his/her anxiety and put together a personalized program of coping strategies.

Participants will have the opportunity to “try out” a variety of relaxation techniques, including mindfulness meditation.  Past groups have proven to be a valuable adjunct to individual treatment and have successfully helped group members better manage their anxiety symptoms.

When:          Saturdays, beginning February 9, 2008

Time:            10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Cost:               $35 per session.  Six week commitment required.
