Counselor Professional Development Opportunities in Chicago, IL

We have a long tradition of encouraging and facilitating professional development opportunities for our staff and the Chicago health community to promote affordable mental health care.

Fellows Program

The Fellows Program is for licensed mental health professionals who wish to gain increased clinical competence through supervision of direct services and didactic seminars. Therapists with provisional licenses who need to work toward independent clinical licensing as LCSWs or LCPCs may accumulate supervised hours toward licensure under the guidance of their supervisors.

FELLOWS PROGRAM

The Fellows Program is designed to integrate theoretical review with practical skills training and application in a dynamic setting with a diverse group of clients. The Program provides a stimulating environment where participants can improve their psychodynamic psychotherapy skills through reading, discussion, supervision, and clinical work.  Fellows make a two-year commitment of an average of 10 psychotherapy session hours per week.

Program Benefits

  • One hour of individual weekly supervision with a Cathedral Counseling Center staff therapist
  • Monthly group discussion on selected readings accompanied with group consultation
  • Full use of Cathedral resources, including office space, computers, and voice mail
  • Continuing education credits (CEUs) for the monthly meetings, along with a Certificate of Achievement upon satisfactory completion of the program
